Overview
This is a project I worked on while employed at Skookum. Captrust hired Skookum to create a step-by-step client facing retirement calculator for their customers to use so they could maximize their retirement savings. As this project was very similar to the work I used to do for Impact Technologies, I was chosen to be the sole Product Designer for it.
My Role
I both designed and handled the front end development for this project.
On the design side, I worked within Captrust's brand guidelines to create a UI that would blend in seamlessly with their website. Working with key stakeholders at Captrust, I created a UX flow to guide customers through various forms to gather all the data Captrust's CFP's would need.
One small catch with this project was that Captrust wanted to use ASP.NET Razor Pages as the frontend framework. Unfortunately Skookum didn't have any Developers experienced in that framework at the time. So I volunteered to learn it on the fly and handle all of the coding for this project. I wrote all HTML, SCSS, and JS for the project. I created a range slider component that could also accept numeric inputs for times when exact accuracy was needed. I used chart.js for all graphical outputs and bound them to the inputs. I then handed off the project to Captrust's backend Devs to finish off the project.
